About The Library

The Thousand Oaks Library is comprised of one main facility, The Grant R. Brimhall Library, located at 1401 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks, and one branch library, the Newbury Park Branch, located at 2331 Borchard Road in Newbury Park.

The Grant R. Brimhall Library was opened in 1982. The 62,000 square foot facility was expanded in Spring 2006 to include an improved Children's Services area, quiet study rooms, and additional seating and shelving capacity.

The Grant R. Brimhall Library is open seven days per week:

Normal Hours:  
Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. 
Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. 
Holidays CLOSED
   

MAJOR HOLIDAYS ARE: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving (and the day after), and Christmas Day.  The library is also closed for City Holidays (which vary).

Opened in 1991, the Newbury Park facility houses both the Newbury Park Branch Library and the Library System's Technical Services Department.

Newbury Park Library is open six days per week:

Library Policies
   
The Mission Statement of the Thousand Oaks Library guides the development of services, selection of materials and the allocation of resources.
Provides a detailed explanation of library loan periods, overdue and lost/damaged fines and fees, requirements for library card applications, and other related rules and procedures.
Provides information on how to initiate an Interlibrary Loan Request.
States the rules and regulations that apply to patron use of the library Internet workstations.
Describes the Library's policy on the confidentiality of patron records as it relates to the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001.
